John first became involved in Goju Ryu after
bringing his son to the Junior class. Previously to Goju Ryu,
John had trained in Judo and Boxing. Having joined at 44
years of age John felt the club had a good balance of ages and
this has helped keep him training over the years since. John is
still enjoying his Karate especially the fitness, strength and
coordination it has given him. John says "You have to use it or
lose it you know!".

Carl started training at the age of 7, his Mum
and Dad joked that he wouldn't last 6 months in the martial art
before giving up. Now, 6 years later, and Carl is one of the Dojo's black belts. Carl enjoys his Karate and the confidence it
has given him in life. He hopes to carry on with his training in
the years ahead and also possibly open his own dojo in the
future.
